Meeting the new Miss Tennessee!

Today I went to work with my dad so that at lunch we could go and eat with Miss Tennessee.
This was her first real public appearance as Miss Tennessee 2007. She signed the cover of my program book, and my dad and I sat next to her mother at lunch.

Then she got inducted as an honorary member of the Jackson Exchange Club, my dad got to put the pin on her dress. They didn't want to mess up the fabric so I suggested that they put the pin in one of the smaller holes in her crown, but they didn't.

Miss Grace was very nice my dad took pictures of her signing my booklet, and many more pictures with her and I. She is a very nice person, I like her a lot. She got up and talked to other people instead of waiting for people to come to her.

Someone asked her what was going thru her mind when she was chosen as one of the top 10, and she answered when they called her name for top ten and then top five she started thinking hey this might be it, I might be the new Miss Tennessee. As it turns out she won the pageant and I am glad that she did.

She will do a good job and I wish her all the best and look forward to seeing her again soon.

This is the final night, and the winner is?????

It is the last day of the pageant and I am as excited as I'll ever be.

This is was my top ten,

Miss Metropolitan, Miss Hamilton County, Miss Milan No-Till, Miss Southeast Tennessee, Miss Nashville, Miss Madison County, Miss Central Tennessee, Miss Fall Fest, Miss Memphis, Miss Lexington. I did not do so well picking the top ten, but it gets better.

When the real top ten were announced I chose the top five from them.

My top five were - Miss Milan No-Till, Miss Lexington, Miss Capital City, Miss Metropolitan and Miss Hamilton County. See it got better, I got them all.

The best looking bathing suit that I liked was worn by Miss Hamilton County, Ansley Reagan.

My favorite talent was sung by Ashley Cole when she sang Don Quixote. When evening wear rolled around my favorite was Miss Lexington's dress. It was beige and in the back it flowed like melted metal, it was wonderful.

I did not think they did very well with their interviews, the questions were really serious. The best answer was by Miss Lexington.

I was not sure if she'd win but I thought she probably would.

When they counted down from fourth runner up, Miss Milan No-Till then third runner up, Miss Capital City, second runner up Miss Metropolitan, first runner up Miss Hamilton County, she was first runner up last year too. And the next Miss Tennessee is Miss Lexington GRACE GORE!

Then my dad and I went to the front of the stage and saw all the girls. It was neat to see all the past Miss Tennessee's too. We talked to Tara Burns she won two years ago, and she remembered me that was really cool. We also talked to Blair Pancake, I got to know her better than the other past winners. She is really nice and my favorite Miss Tennessee, I'm going to miss her and hope she does well.
We also talked to Jay Demarcus, he shook my dad's and my hand and asked my name, how cool is that! I think he and Allison did a great job. They were so funny, my favorite part was when Jay was talking and they cut him off to do a commercial and he said, "hey I'm still talking here". I wonder if he'll get her the car he promised her? I hope they work together again at next year's pageant, they were really great.
I'll get to meet Grace with my dad at the Exchange Club lunch next week, I can't wait!

Day 3, last day before a new Miss Tennessee is crowned

I loved the pageant today. My friend Sarah got to come with me, she has never been to a pageant before. It was great because my dad got us seats in the front row. She got a program book and I hope to get it signed for her by Miss Blair and the next winner.

The show started like before and the girls introduced themselves. They all did a good job, my favorite was Miss Sydney Moss from Seven Lakes.

My favorite bathing suit was the one that Rachel Parsons wore. It was a light blue, almost a bit green. I loved it.

My favorite dress was worn by Stephanie Whittler.

The talent part was good, I liked Miss Memphis, Nicole Jordan when she sang 'Summertime' and I really like Jordan Cole because she played the flute beautifully. I just started to play the flute in school this last year and I love it.

Then there were the interviews, the one I thought did the best was done by Miss Milan No-Till, Ellen Carrington.

We met Miss Tennessee from a few years ago and got our picture taken with her. Her name is Ashley Eicher.

Pageant day 2

This is what happened on the second day of the pageant.
First the girls come out and introduced themselves. My favorite introduction was from Miss Metropolitan, Tucker Perry.
My favorite swim suit was worn by Ansley Reagan, Miss Hamilton County.
Then came talent and I loved Miss Tennessee Valley, Daniele Colburn. She sang 'Daddy's Son' very well, she put tons of emotion into it.
My favorite evening gown was worn by Nicole Jordan, Miss Memphis.

Evening gown comments,
Miss Blue Raider - necklace way too big
Miss Lexington - love the dress and how it sparkled
Miss Johnson City - wish the dress was a different color
Miss Central Tennessee - wish the bottom half of the dress was the same color as the top
Miss Fall Fest - loved the dress
Miss Memphis - my favorite, love the sparkle, top and everything
Miss Cumberland Celebration - wish it was a different color
Miss Capital City - it was OK
Miss TN Soybean - too many sparkles
Miss Cordova - Nice dress
Miss Knoxville - very nice love the way it flowed
Miss West Tennessee - too much everything, too many ruffles and too much jewelry

Start of competition - day one

They started the show with professional dancers. The girls did a little dance and then they introduced themselves.

My favorites so far are Miss Chattanooga, Bobbie Marie Gregg and Miss Central Tennessee Kelly Dutton.

Then the girls did a dance to 'Great Ball of Fire' and others started the swim suit competition.

My favorite is a light green one piece worn by Miss Fall Fest Jordan Cole.

Next they did the talent and my favorite was Miss Hamilton County, Ansley Regan. She played the harp, and did a very good job.

Miss Blair Pancake sang an song and the girls did the evening wear part of the show. My favorites were Miss Chattanooga, Miss Seven Lakes and Miss Scenic City.

The last part is the interview and I think the best one was by Miss Madison County, Victoria Green.

And then it all ended with the winners being announced, for swimsuit it was Miss Lexington, Grace Gore and for talent Miss Milan No-Till, Ellen Carrington.

I can't wait for the second day of the pageant. This is a lot of fun.

The pageant begins

My name is Samantha and I have been coming to the Miss Tennessee Pageant for five years now. I am writing this for fun to tell you about the pageant from my point of view.

This is June 20, 2007 and it is the first day of the pageant. I do not have a favorite yet. All the girls are beautiful.

We went to the mall on Sunday to meet the girls and they all looked beautiful. My dad and I do this every father's day. I got to meet all the girls and get their autograph. My little brother took pictures of all of them. We got a picture with Miss Tennessee from 1999, Allison.

I also met them at a lunch meeting with my dad on Tuesday, we sat with three of the contestants. They were all very nice to me and we all had fun listening to Blair Pancake talk about her time as Miss Tennessee.
